Meet Catherine Johns, author of Show Up and Shine, October 24

.
I think I'm okay in the way I conduct myself with clients and potential clients, but I know I can do better. When you're "swinging for the fences", like I am these days, who couldn't stand to double back and reconsider how they present themselves in public.

That's why I think getting to know Catherine Johns, buying her book, learning from her, going to her events and doing everything short of stalking her is worthwhile.

Catherine will be signing her book, Show Up and Shine, and discussing practical, concrete ways, how to use your body and your voice to create a correct impression at Heaven Meets Earth studio in Evanston next Thursday night, October 24.

Now's your chance to meet Catherine. She's had a good influence on me already.

Pondering LOVE: Thank you, Leo Buscaglia

.•*✿*•.¸¸.•*✿
I've been pondering LOVE more intensely lately for a variety of reasons (as some of my friends and family who've been in touch with me outside of cyberspace can attest to.)

I aim to post more about it a bit here.

In the meantime, who else remembers Leo Buscaglia? Loved him and still do.

Here's some of what he had to say about LOVE:

Leo Buscaglia -‬ ‪Speaking of Love pt ‬1‪ of 6‬
From a talk he did in Sacramento, I believe in the 1980, but it is timeless.

‪Leo Buscaglia -‬ ‪Speaking of Love pt ‬2‪ of 6‬
I especially appreciate what he has to say about fat thighs.

Leo Buscaglia - Speaking of Love pt 3 of 6
Yeah, plums...and fat thighs!
O'Hare gets a shout out too.

Leo Buscaglia - Speaking of Love pt 4 of 6
Love the Joel's Day story he starts here.
I believe that one person's need is another person's surplus...and this story hits on that.

Leo Buscaglia - Speaking of Love pt 5 of 6
Tyranny of word! (Which LB talks about here before "racial profile" was a common term.)

Leo Buscaglia - Speaking of Love pt 6 of 6

I aim to be a better lover and look forward to hearing from anyone else who wants to discuss that with me. (Yes, chuckle it up, smut brains. If I knew how to say that better, I would. That's okay, have a giggle on me.)

Daily choices of those who are homeless: January 17

.
Connections for the Homeless invites you and a friend to its next "Bring a Friend to Breakfast." It promises to be an enlightening session.

When: Thursday, January 17
Time: 7:00 - 9:00 a.m.
Where: Lake Street Church, Evanston, IL.

Known for his amazing presentation skills and knowledge of the dilemmas facing Connection's clients, case manager Tim Anstett will lead participants in an interactive game that will clarify the daily choices and struggles many of the agency's clients face. Will you keep the roof over your head? Will you end up on the streets?

Regarding the menu, says Sue Loellbach, Connection's Director of Development:
We usually have frittatas, but no cook this time. So, bagels and donated Bennison’s pastries it is.

Hope to see you there.

Margaux Pepper makes a fashion film

.

My extraordinarily talented intern, +Margaux Pepper, will premiere the fashion film she produced Friday, January 25. She and I would love to see you there.

The untitled film, directed by Rachel Jones, Multimedia Editor of NU-student-run STITCH fashion magazine, follows four friends camping and showcases a variety of outdoor fashion trends.

"Rachel and I had the idea for the project last Spring and arranged meetings with STITCH and our professors to get the go-ahead to start production. We gathered a crew during the Fall, filmed the entire shoot on a weekend in late November, and are finishing up final edits right now. Ours is the first fashion short film in STITCH's history. It explores the depiction of fashion as art, rather than as a commercial," says Margaux Pepper.

Consider coming out to meet and support some smart, enthusiastic students.
